I Love Face Paint

As a result of Elizabeth's CT in November and seeing her doctor earlier in the week, she has started on a 10 day course of oral steroids. It has been a long time since she had taken this medication - I hope it doesn't give her any adverse side effects. All I remember from before was that it made her so hungry that she ate 4 bowls of Cheerios and 2 bananas for breakfast. We were at National Jewish in Denver (she was 2 1/2 years old!) So, I have been packing her a bigger lunch than normal. We'll see how she does.

The steroids will hopefully reduce swelling and allergic response in her sinuses, shrink her polyps, and if she does have allergic fungal sinusitis it should help that. Of course, don't ever hope for a diagnostic test to give you a definite answer because it probably won't. The CT showed stuff in her sinuses, but whether it was allergic fungal sinusitis or just inspissated mucus (I think this is doctor speak for thick old snot) couldn't be seen.

So, we are trying the meds for 10 days and will follow her closely and check back in 3 weeks. At least it might help shrink up her polyps. In spite of all this as usual, she seems remarkably fine and full of energy!
